CEO Nicolas Cheetham has acquired World All Language rights for the forthcoming anthology The Best of World SF by Israeli-born author Lavie Tidhar from John Berlyne at Zeno Agency set to be published in hardback and ebook on the 1st April 2021.
The Best of World SF features twenty-six new short stories representing the very best in international science fiction – from never-before-seen originals to award winners – with contributors including: Chen Qiufan, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Tade Thompson, Fabio Fernandes, Aliette de Bodard, Zen Cho and others.
About finding a home for the anthology Lavie Tidhar said ‘21st-century science fiction is defined by diversity and multiculturalism, and it's been my joy and privilege to put together the first mass-market anthology dedicated to international SF. It has been a dream of mine for over a decade and I couldn't be more delighted to finally launch a big, world SF anthology. Sometimes you have to wait for the times to change – and for the right publisher to come along!’
Nicolas Cheetham said, ‘The flagship of our new science fiction imprint, Ad Astra, Lavie's anthology delivers our promise to bring you the very best science fiction on the planet. Nobody knows more about SF from beyond the anglosphere than Mr Tidhar.’
Lavie Tidhar is the World Fantasy Award-winning author of Osama (2011), The Violent Century (2013), the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize-winning A Man Lies Dreaming (2014), and the Campbell Award-winning Central Station (2016), in addition to many other works and several other awards. He works across genres, combining detective and thriller modes with poetry, science fiction and historical and autobiographical material. By Force Alone, his remix of Arthurian myth, was published by Head of Zeus in 2020. Tidhar grew up in Israel and South Africa and lived for long periods in Vanuatu and Laos and now lives in London.
